The Breakers originated as the Boston Breakers in 1983 before relocating to New Orleans for the 1984. Coached by Dick Coury, the Breakers played their home games at the Louisiana Superdome. They finished with a 8-10 record in their lone season in New Orleans. Notable Breakers players included quarterback Johnnie Walton and running back Buford Jordan.
